Betelnut is a palm nut from
the areca tree. Areca tree resembles thin palm tree. The
trees are found growing in moist land and produce prodigious
clusters of green fleshy nuts which mature into yellow and
then brown hard nuts. Betelnut is used for casual chewing
like chewing gum and is harvested in Indian Subcontinent and
South East Asian countries (Indonesia & Thailand). Betelnut
is traded in various forms - whole betelnut, split betelnut,
Lali and boiled betelnut (Chikni). |
